Minor Project Interim Review

Joint project with Rachel O'Neill

Symposium Invitation

The Symposium will be a showcase for the studio and also a platform for each student to present their thesis question and experiences from the year so far.

It will also be a chance for the students to test their chosen topics, and an opportunity to stimulate debate between guests and peers from a rich variety of backgrounds.

Copenhagen Church Competition

This was a two and a half week competition for a new Church in Ørestad, a new suburb of Copenhagen. We were given the original competition brief from a few years ago, and told that we could either follow the brief, or to question it. I chose to challenge it completely.
The Ørestad masterplan has been put on hold for the foreseeable future and the site is currently a construction site with only the infrastructure completed.
Since the masterplan is now redundant, I created a community orientated corridor that runs along the central axis. This expands out into the proposed masterplan and will provide a new school, library and a sports centre.
At the end of the axis is the church that extends out into the fields beyond. The church will also provide a multi-purpose hall, a kindergarden and a cafe for the community.
These facilities will initially be used by the greater community on the other side of the metro tracks. When the masterplan is revisited in the future, it will adapt and embrace the community buildings, which will ensure that the community is at the heart of the new town.

Bagsværd Church - Exquisite Interior

Sublime building - I spent several hours in the main church hall watching the ever changing light pass across the curved surfaces. Without doubt one of the best buildings that I have visited.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art - Waves

Video taken from a small timber and iron sculptural platform that was at the bottom of a hill down a very narrow path. The platform cantilevered over the perimeter fence of the museum and allowed a beautiful panorama of the channel between Denmark and Sweden. The wind was so strong that it created powerful waves that crashed noisily against the coast and against a timber sculpture that jutted out into the sea.
